JBS MBA Program

Emphasis on fundamentals

The program emphasizes on sound foundation of basic concepts and, therefore, additional courses are introduced in each functional area of management. In addition, 10 hours of tutorials are offered besides 30 hours for each 3 credit course.

IT integration

In every functional area of Management, modules on IT applications are offered. These modules are like Human Resource Supply Chain Management, CRM, HR-MIS, ERP for Supply Chain Management. Selected IT software are used for such modules.

Functional and Sectoral Electives in Blocks of four each

The elective courses are offered in a group of 4 courses. This is basically done with the objective to provide in-depth understanding of the subject, for example- Elective sets of 4 courses each in Financial Management, International Finance and Financial Services. (Details are given in the curriculum).

Summer Internship (With Financial and Industry Analysis)

The duration of internship is 6 weeks. Detailed Financial and Industry Analysis is one of the compulsory components of the summer internship.

The industry analysis may cover; Industry size and trends of growth, Competitive analysis, Position of the company in terms of Market share etc., Corporate mission and objectives, Portfolio analysis, Sector & Market Segment. For the Financial Analysis, students are expected to calculate as well as its interpretation in Business context the Analysis of balance sheets, Profit & loss statements of the company for last three financial years in terms of minimum three ratios in each of the following categories and also analysis of cash flow statements for last 3 years: Liquidity ratios, Profitability ratios, Activity ratios and Leverage ratios. The final part of the report is detailed study on the Marketing, Operations and Finance & HR practices or details of the specific field based project assigned during the internship.

Social Internship

The program has a mandatory 4 weeks of social internship to sensitize the students towards social responsibilities. During the internship the students are expected to understand gravity of the social issues, their magnitude and implications, study the government policy, role of NGOs and their functioning. Finally, the students have to address the initiatives that may be required from the corporate sector.

Personality Development

JBS curriculum actively co-produces learning and development – all round, comprehensive and complete development of students at both individual and group levels. The learning schedule builds time for self, group study and development activities. Also given the complexity of the business problems today, teams need to be built to provide solutions. Thus, it is very important to learn group dynamics and to work in teams. JBS encourages students to develop teams, lead, follow, and resolve issues.

JBS curriculum combines theory, perspectives, insights and practical applications as expected by the end-user in the business world. JBS courses use a mix of business cases, exercises, games and strategy simulations. Various methods used are:
