On 14th December, at 11AM, JBS, Noida had an engaging sharing session by Mr. Amit Kumar Shukla - Strategy Head of GMR group on a very contemporary topic "Strategizing in VUCA worlld: a challenge or an opportunity?".
Mr Shukla emphasized on the rapidly changing volatile business environment and how decision making process not only cope up but also to take the dynamism as a competitive opportunity. He shared his practical experiences in using some of the very useful tools and techniques of decision making such as scenario planning, what-if analysis, simulation, etc. He again and again emphasized to focus on the customers, truly understand their ever changing needs and aspirations and also to keep an close eye on the market landscape, especially competitors activities. Lastly he concluded that in today's volatile business environment, we must be prepared for surprises and the way we handle it. His advice to tackle business surprises is to solidly grounded in principles, having plan B and close connections with the customers.
During question answer session when he was asked about the winning bid of Zurich airport for the upcoming Jewar airport, he explained how a little difference in the cost of funding can impact long term viability of infrastructure projects where the huge investment is mostly up-front and gestation period is generally long.
