Objective/Abstract of the talk:
The lecture explored the evolution of risk from its roots in ancient beliefs, where it was associated with the control of gods and fate, to its current understanding in the business world. It explained how companies can identify and manage risks effectively to protect themselves and make more informed decisions. Emphasis was placed on building a strong risk management culture within organizations. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and its critical role in business. They learned how to identify, evaluate, and respond to different types of risks, such as financial and operational, that organizations face. The lecture demonstrated how a robust ERM approach not only ensures safety but also fosters growth and innovation.
